His clients include leading companies in a broad range of industries such as entertainment and media, insurance, transportation, construction, emerging technologies, and international supply chain logistics. Martin advises clients on commercial and insurance disputes, torts, product liability, and transport regulatory matters. Martin is also the National Leader of the Latin America focus group and routinely assists companies with international contractual and jurisdictional disputes and commercial aspects of trade.
Martin's corporate-commercial disputes practice includes distribution, logistics, charter-party, licensing and international sales, as well as share purchase and asset purchase litigation and arbitration proceedings. Martin's products practice comprises product liability, product regulation (including hazardous products labelling), vehicle safety recalls, and emerging technologies in transportation (such as autonomous vehicle technology).
Martin is also recognized for his expertise in transport matters (air, rail, road, and marine). He provides transactional advice specific to transportation services contracts and transportation mergers and acquisitions (including Transport Canada and Canadian Transportation Agency consents and approvals on air operator changes of control, licenses and charter permits, and Canadian ownership determinations for air transportation services).
Martin has successfully represented clients at various levels of the Ontario and Federal courts, as well as before various administrative tribunals, regulatory bodies, and in complex international commercial arbitration proceedings. Martin holds advanced degrees in Economics and Business Administration (M.A. and M.B.A designations). His international upbringing enables him to work and communicate in several languages, including Spanish, German, Portuguese and French, in further support of the international reach of his practice.
