Demar is an associate in BLG’s Ottawa office, practicing in the intellectual property group.
Demar holds a PhD in chemistry and is currently working toward qualification as a Canadian patent agent. Demar specializes in patent prosecution, with hands-on experience working alongside patent agents in securing intellectual property rights across chemical, pharmaceutical, and materials science innovations for clients. Demar is skilled in drafting and prosecuting Canadian patent applications, analyzing prior art and navigating CIPO procedures.
Prior to joining BLG, Demar obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa, and his PhD form the University of Miami. His research work focused on the synthesis and optical properties of novel turn-on, fluorescent nuclear stains with live cell compatibility.
