Montréal (May 19, 2017)
Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) is proud to announce that t Alex K. Paterson, O.C., O.Q., Q.C., Ad.E., has been awarded the Commander's Medal of the Ordre de Montréal, at the Order's first official ceremony, held on May 17, 2017 at Montréal City Hall.
Mr. Paterson is a former partner of BLG's Montréal office. He is recognized as being among Québec's foremost litigators in the fields of health, construction, accounting, arbitration and mediation. Among other things, he has drafted and submitted briefs to the National Assembly, on behalf of the health and education sectors in Québec, and for over 25 years has participated in the development of Québec's health-related legislation. Apart from having had an exceptional career as a lawyer, he has worked as a volunteer in a host of organizations devoted to healthcare and education.
For all those reasons, Mr. Paterson was inducted into the "Constellation" of the Academy of Great Montrealers in 1998. On the occasion of Montréal's 375th anniversary, the Ordre de Montréal took over from the Academy of Great Montrealers. Out of respect for that outstanding heritage, approximately one hundred Montréal personalities who were recognized by the Academy between 1978 and 2014 have now been officially inducted into the Ordre, which pays tribute to men and women who have contributed in a remarkable way to the City's development and reputation.
