BLG Strengthens Its Corporate Commercial Group

Sarah Bird Joins BLG’s Vancouver Office.

Vancouver (January 8, 2018)— Borden Ladner Gervais LLP ("BLG") is pleased to announce that Sarah Bird has joined the Corporate Commercial Group as a partner in the Firm’s Vancouver office focusing on infrastructure, project finance and project development.

“Sarah will be a strong addition to our corporate team in Vancouver,” said Frank Callaghan, BLG’s National Group Head, Corporate and Capital Markets. “Her extensive knowledge and experience in project finance will complement the group’s existing expertise in PPP and infrastructure.”

Ms. Bird brings over twelve years of experience in project development, project finance, lending, aboriginal law and general corporate commercial law. She is a leader in project finance, known for her ability to skillfully handle difficult legal and commercial issues, negotiate complex financings, and find creative solutions that manage business risk. Her experience includes leading infrastructure projects and project finance transactions in various business sectors throughout Canada, including acting as lead counsel and negotiator for proponents and lenders regarding all phases of social infrastructure (hospitals, schools, social housing and more) and transportation projects, and advising lenders and resource companies on securing financing or refinancing for projects. She also has significant experience in legal services related to economic development in Aboriginal communities.
