Toronto (June 30, 2022) — Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) is pleased to announce that Guy Pratte has been named to the Order of Canada. His appointment to the Order recognizes his “contributions as a lawyer, notably to the pro bono movement, and for his volunteer commitments to the performing arts.” The Order of Canada is one of the highest civilian honours, recognizing individuals for their outstanding achievements, dedication and service to the country.
Throughout his career, Guy has committed himself to improving access to justice across the country. In addition to serving on a number of boards, he was the director of Pro Bono Ontario from 2016 – 2019, which inspired him to start Pro Bono Québec in order to help advance the legal system and provide greater access to justice in both provinces.

Guy has received a number of legal recognitions throughout his career. In 2019, he was awarded the Ontario Bar Association Award for Excellence in Civil Litigation. He is also an honorary fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
We congratulate our colleague and the other recipients on this great honour. Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada will present all 85 new appointees with their insignia at future investiture ceremonies at a later date.
