Colleen summered with BLG Calgary in 2023, where she gained valuable exposure to various aspects of corporate law and dispute resolution, helping her develop practical skills for the intricacies of legal practice.

During her first two years of law school, she worked for the First Nations Health and Social Secretariat. She helped secure funding for the Turtle Team, which provided culturally safe isolation accommodations during COVID-19 and housing for flood evacuees. She developed materials for a federal initiative on distinctions-based Indigenous Health Legislation co-development and co-authored a paper on First Nations people with disabilities for the Public Interest Law Centre. This paper supported a Canadian Human Rights complaint filed by Kevin Taylor.

In her third year, she completed the Indigenous Community Legal Clinic Externship which included conducting research for the Federal Court class action lawsuit addressing Canada's discriminatory child welfare system and resulting cultural genocide.
