Jack’s disputes practice focuses on insolvency and restructuring, debtor-creditor remedies, real estate, banking, securities, fraud and energy matters. Jack advises companies, directors, shareholders, lenders and accounting professionals with respect to all aspects of restructuring and insolvency proceedings under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act and the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act both within Canada and on a cross-border basis. Jack’s commercial litigation practice focuses on insolvency, securities and oil & gas matters.

Jack also has extensive experience in international commercial arbitration and has acted in UNCITRAL and ICC arbitrations. Prior to joining BLG, Jack worked internationally in Doha, Qatar and in London, U.K.

Jack frequently appears before the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench (Commercial List), and has appeared before Alberta’s other courts as well as the Supreme Court of Canada.

    • Acting for PwC in its role as Monitor regarding the Delphi Energy Corp. restructuring under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA).
    • Co-counsel to representative plaintiff in ongoing class proceeding relating to exempt market securities.
    • Co-counsel to secured lenders in the Matter of the Compromise or Arrangement of IEC Ltd., Audeamus Capital Corp.
    • Co-counsel to Receiver of Ranch Energy Corporation and affiliates in respect of various sale approval applications.
    • Co-counsel to the Monitor in Accel Canada Holdings Limited (Re), 2020 ABQB 204.
    • Co-counsel to the Enhanced Monitor of the Walton Group in respect of a stay extension.
    • Co-counsel to the Receiver of Westridge Cabinets (1993) Ltd. in respect of a sale approval application.
    • Co-counsel to oil and gas E&P company in connection with its Notice of Intention to Make a Proposal.
    • Counsel to mortgage lenders in connection with receiverships and judicial sales.
    • Co-counsel to the respondents in Tiger Calcium Services Inc v Sazwan, 2019 ABQB 327.
