Amélie T. Gouin is a partner at the Montréal office of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG). She has a diversified practice in civil and commercial litigation, with a focus on class actions, complex commercial disputes, construction disputes and insurance law.
She represents companies, institutions and insurers in high-stakes matters, both before the courts and in alternative dispute resolution. Amélie is recognized for her ability to navigate complex legal environments, anticipate risks and develop effective strategies aligned with her clients’ objectives.
She has particular expertise in disputes involving software implementation, working at the intersection of law, technology and contract governance. She supports her clients in managing IT projects, handling contract disputes, addressing performance issues and pursuing liability claims.
Her interest in food law is reflected in her work on disputes involving regulatory compliance, manufacturer liability and product traceability. She supports clients in resolving these disputes strategically, with an insider’s grasp of the industry.
Amélie regularly works with technical experts, engineers, IT consultants and agri-food professionals to deliver integrated, pragmatic legal solutions. She applies a rigorous, strategic and human approach in her practice, always centred on her clients’ needs.
Beyond her professional work, Amélie is also highly active in the community. She has served on the board of directors of the Pediatric Research Foundation since 2019 and of the Alexis Le Trotteur early childhood centre (CPE) since 2022. She also served on the board of the École de Cirque de Verdun (2017–2019) and the Canadian Association for Food Law and Policy (CAFLP) (2019–2024).
She was deeply involved with the Junior Chamber of Commerce of Montréal (JCCM), where she served as Secretary (2013–2016) and then as President (2016–2018). She was also a member of the board of the Junior Chamber of Commerce of Montreal Foundation from 2016 to 2024.
Since 2017, she has been an instructor with the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés, delivering annual training sessions on the legal duties of directors of not-for-profit organizations.
