Julia has a broad civil ligation practice with a particular focus on insurance defense and product liability disputes. She acts for clients on high complexity files and major claims.

Julia has appeared before the British Columbia Supreme Court in jury trials and numerous contested applications including application to dismiss for want of prosecution and application to compel attendance at independent medical examinations.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Julia worked as a secondary school teacher at the Vancouver School Board.


  • McCrory v. Komar – co-counsel for the defendant in a 13 day jury trial with various interlocutory applications during trial including adverse inference for not calling treating clinicians, admissibility of hearsay evidence in expert reports, admissibility of inflammatory evidence and adding the issue of mitigation in the jury charge. Obtained jury verdict in favour of the defendant.
  • Baker v. Surerus – co-counsel for the defendant in a 20 day jury trial. Settlement achieved during trial.
  • Johnston v. Leginus – defended and successfully obtained order for application to compel attendance at an independent medical examination.
