Van Khai has worked as a litigation paralegal for more than twenty years. Passionate about civil procedure, she is a valuable asset to litigation teams thanks to her in-depth knowledge of procedural rules and her comprehensive understanding of the strategic considerations involved in complex legal matters.
She possesses extensive knowledge of the Code of Civil Procedure of Québec, the Federal Courts Rules, the Rules of the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as the principal rules governing international commercial arbitration.
Throughout her career, she has worked on complex matters before all levels of Québec and federal courts, including the Court of Québec, the Superior Court of Québec, the Québec Court of Appeal, the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as in the context of international arbitration proceedings.
Her involvement in large-scale litigation has enabled her to develop recognized expertise in document management, evidence organization, coordination of the various stages of a proceeding, and strategic support to legal teams.
She actively participates in the preparation and drafting of pleadings, motions, affidavits, factums, and books of authorities. She is responsible for managing documentary evidence, preparing examination summaries, coordinating undertakings and objections, and conducting factual, procedural, and case law research. She also prepares bill of costs and contributes to the homologation and enforcement of judgments and arbitral awards.
Recognized for her professionalism, organizational skills, and meticulous approach, Van Khai remains constantly informed of legislative, regulatory, and procedural developments that may affect litigation practice. She also contributes to the training and mentorship of assistants, students and articling students.
Before joining our firm, she worked at one of Canada's leading law firms specializing in intellectual property, technology, and innovation. She also served as an in-house paralegal for a leading Québec company operating in the telecommunications, media, entertainment, and cultural sectors.
Van Khai is fluent in French, English, and Cantonese.

- Assisted in representing one of the appellants in the constitutional challenge to the Act respecting the laicity of the State before the Supreme Court of Canada.
- Assisted on a matter involving investors in an Indian telecommunications company in proceedings for the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards totalling more than US$110 million, rendered under investment treaties, before the Superior Court, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada.
- Participated in the representation in a proceeding that led to a decision recognizing multi-parent families in Québec before the Superior Court.
- Assisted on a matter in which a U.S. lender sought the recognition and enforcement in Québec of a foreign judgment rendered against Québec debtors in connection with a loan guarantee, before the Superior Court and the Court of Appeal.
- Participated in the representation in a dispute concerning ownership of a large strip of submerged land surrounding several lakes, before the Supreme Court of Canada.
- Assisted in representing an intervener in litigation concerning the constitutional framework applicable to the delimitation of electoral districts, before the Superior Court, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada.
- Assisted on a matter in which an interlocutory injunction was obtained against retailers providing unauthorized access to copyright-protected television content, before the Federal Court.
