Youssef is a summer student at BLG’s Toronto office for the 2025 summer term. He is focusing on the firm’s litigation practice.

Prior to studying law, Youssef was an automotive engineer at a Detroit Big Three automaker, first in design and then in quality assurance. In these roles, he worked on multi-disciplinary teams to resolve complex problems and created optimal solutions to address opposing objectives.

During his studies, Youssef fell in love with client-facing work and developed his advocacy skills in different roles. He volunteered at the Legal Information Clinic as a case worker and a student advocate, and later led a team of advocates defending their peers as a Senior Advocate. He was also a caseworker at the Kenya-Canada Remote Legal Aid Project, helping resolve legal disputes in communities in rural Kenya.

Youssef chose BLG because of its diverse practice, its close-knit culture and commitment to student development.

Youssef is an avid stand-up comedy fan and loves attending local shows. In between shows, you can find him kayaking, playing soccer, travelling somewhere new, or practicing his Spanish.
