CHEO Thanks BLG for its Generous Gift
Ottawa (May 11, 2017) — Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) is proud to be a long-time supporter of the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). To thank the Firm for its recent donation to the Foundation and its generosity over the last 25 years, CHEO has named a patient room in its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in honour of BLG.
CHEO is a pediatric health and research centre providing outstanding family-centered patient care, pioneering breakthrough research, and training the health care professionals of tomorrow.
At this moment, there are 2,500 children on CHEO's “non-urgent” surgical wait list, and some may wait up to 12 months for their procedures. A portion of BLG's most recent gift to the CHEO Foundation will go toward expanding the hospital's surgery and recovery units, and building two treatment rooms, reducing wait times by up to fifty percent and allowing for 1,500 more surgeries per year.
Katherine Cooligan, Regional Managing Partner for BLG's Ottawa office, is a long-standing CHEO Foundation Board Member, and a new member of the foundation's Executive Committee. She is also a long-standing personal donor and volunteer, and her own children have been CHEO volunteers for several years. Years ago, Ms. Cooligan's fundraising efforts were instrumental in bringing CHEO's first MRI into the hospital.
