Toronto (March 7, 2019) — Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) congratulates partners Mathieu Piché-Messier and Jeffrey Vallis QC, FCIArb on their recognition at the 2019 Benchmark Canada Awards.
Mr. Piché-Messier was named Litigator of the Year, Québec. This recognition caps a successful year for Mathieu, one in which he was inducted as a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers and selected for a 2018 Lexpert® Zenith Award. It also marks the second consecutive year in which he has been highlighted at the Benchmark Canada Awards. Last year, he won the "Impact Case of the Year" award for the Julie Snyder v. John Doe et al. case.
For the second consecutive year, Mr. Vallis has been named Construction Lawyer of the Year. This award comes on the heels of his induction as a fellow in the American College of Construction Lawyers — just the sixth Canadian to receive this honour.
The Benchmark Canada Awards recognize the top litigation lawyers and firms across the country for the significance of their cases during 2018, including potential precedents set and particularly notable results. The awards are based on extensive interviews with litigators and their clients. The seventh annual awards ceremony was held on March 7, 2019 in Toronto.
