Calgary (April 22, 2022) – Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) is pleased to share that partner Michael Marion, formerly a member of our Commercial Litigation Group, has been appointed to the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench as of April 20, 2022.
“Michael has been an extraordinary advocate for clients. His leadership and commitment to access to justice through pro bono work will serve him well in this next chapter,” said John Murphy, BLG’s National Managing Partner and CEO. “He will make an exceptional judge and will be deeply missed across the firm.”
His leadership within BLG has played a critical role in the development of the next generation of lawyers as an articling principal and mentor, while also acting as the Regional Group Manager of the Calgary Disputes Group and co-leader of the Appellate Advocacy Group.
Michael is known for his work within the broader legal community via his contributions to legal scholarships, research and teaching in Alberta, in addition to his work with a number of charitable organizations. His dedication to his profession and commitment to pro bono work was recently recognized by his appointment to Queen's Counsel.
Prior to completing his articles with Borden Ladner Gervais LLP in 1999, Michael clerked with the Alberta Court of Appeal and Alberta Court of Queen's Bench.
We wish Michael all the best in his new role.
