National (January 22, 2026) - Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) Partner Robert J.C. Deane has been appointed King's Counsel in British Columbia in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the legal profession and broader community.
Rob, who serves as National Leader of BLG's Arbitration Group, brings more than two decades of expertise in complex commercial litigation and arbitration in a diverse array of industries. He has appeared as counsel before all levels of court in several Provinces, in major arbitration proceedings around the world, and is frequently appointed as arbitrator. Rob also serves as an elected member of the firm's Partnership Board.
His dedication to advancing the legal profession includes service on the Law Society Tribunal, the Attorney General's Advisory Committee on Commercial Arbitration, and the board of directors of The Advocates' Society.
Beyond his professional achievements, Rob also serves as Vice-Chair of Cystic Fibrosis Canada, among his other community activities.

The King's Counsel designation, conferred by the Lieutenant Governor in Council, is a provincial honour recognizing contributions that strengthen the functioning of the legal system. No more than seven per cent of practising British Columbia lawyers can hold this designation at any time.
