Banks and Kevin Barr are among only 86 Alberta lawyers appointed King's Counsel in the latest selection, an honour recognizing their strong leadership, longstanding commitment to the legal profession and their community involvement.
This prestigious designation within the Canadian justice system celebrates lawyers' significant achievements and represents the best of the legal profession.
Peter D. Banks practices in complex commercial and construction litigation and arbitration. Peter is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and is Co-Chair of the Canadian Bar Association Inns of Court Committee for Alberta (South). He demonstrates his community commitment through BLG Reads to Kids and, previously, the 1st Okotoks Scouts.
As head of BLG's Insolvency and Restructuring Group in Calgary, Kevin Barr guides clients through complex domestic and cross-border insolvencies. He demonstrates his commitment to the profession through active membership in the Canadian Bar Association and serves his community through a number of local initiatives.

The King's Counsel designation is awarded following a rigorous review by a committee of legal and judicial leaders from a province’s bar association, law society and various courts, with final selections made by the Lieutenant Governor. In Alberta, this process is conducted every second year.
