Julien focuses his practice on constitutional and administrative litigation, complex civil and commercial disputes, and appellate advocacy.
As a litigator, he has argued on behalf of clients before all levels of courts in Québec, as well as before the Federal Court and the Supreme Court of Canada. He is frequently engaged in complex matters at the intersection of public and private law, often involving significant strategic, reputational or political considerations.
Julien is regularly called upon to act in cases raising constitutional issues relating to the division of powers, and fundamental rights and freedoms. His public law practice also includes a broad range of regulatory and compliance matters, including those relating to the environment, transportation, official languages, access to information and highly regulated products.
Prior to joining BLG, Julien clerked for the Honourable Suzanne Côté at the Supreme Court of Canada in 2018–2019. He previously worked as a journalist and researcher for various media outlets, including print, radio and television.
Julien is actively involved in a number of pro bono initiatives and contributes to the work of BLG’s Diversity and Inclusion Council.

- Represented the appellant in a dispute concerning ownership of a large, submerged strip of land surrounding several lakes
