Vanessa Lapointe represents the interests of unionized and non-unionized companies of all sizes in matters ranging from prevention to representation. This includes advising employers on:
- hiring and employment contracts
- disciplinary measures and dismissals
- workplace investigations
- labour relations
- human rights
Vanessa advises both federally and provincially-regulated companies and represents them before:
- civil courts (wrongful dismissal, constructive dismissal and other civil litigation)
- administrative tribunals (human rights tribunals, CNESST, Administrative Labour Tribunal)
She also assists foreign—particularly American—companies with aspects of employment law pertaining to their Canadian and Québec operations.
Vanessa regularly works with BLG’s Mergers and Acquisitions team as an employment law specialist in the context of due diligence processes.
Vanessa is fluent in English and French and has a working knowledge of Italian and Spanish.
Vanessa was previously assigned to the legal department of a large company in the automobile industry. She was also seconded on two occasions to a leading Canadian tourism infrastructure company. She carried out these assignments under the supervision of an international law firm, at which she subsequently completed her articles.
