Any is a trusted advocate, dynamic IP litigator, and trademark agent who helps clients protect, enforce, and maximize the value of their intellectual property.

Any advises clients on intellectual property prosecution, litigation, and strategy, with a focus on trademarks, copyright, and privacy. She helps clients across diverse industries protect and enforce their IP rights across all stages—from clearance and registration to disputes and enforcement.

Her litigation experience spans proceedings before the Federal Court, Federal Court of Appeal, and Ontario Superior Court of Justice. She also regularly supports clients in opposition and expungement matters before the Trademarks Opposition Board.

As a registered Trademark Agent, Any manages trademark portfolios and advises on complex clearance issues, examiner report responses, evidence building, and opposition strategy. Her clients include businesses in:

  • Consumer packaged, sporting and outdoor goods
  • Luxury goods
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Houseware, furniture, clothing and cosmetics
  • Automotive and watercraft goods
  • Casino and real estate development
  • Entertainment services

Any also provides guidance on French language law issues for brand owners in Canada.

Her hybrid practice gives her a practical perspective across both litigation and transactional matters. Clients rely on her for clear, actionable business-minded guidance on trademark enforcement, brand protection, privacy compliance, and IP commercialization.

Prior to joining BLG, Any practiced at the Toronto office of a large multinational firm. As a student, Any worked as a research assistant to the late Professor Alan N. Young at Osgoode Hall Law School where she co-drafted a factum for the Ontario Court of Appeals, and drafted memoranda in administrative, procedural, constitutional, and criminal areas of the law.

Any is a recipient of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada’s Educational Foundation Award. The Educational Foundation Award is given to the candidate with the highest overall mark in the Trademark Agent Qualifying Examination. Any is also trilingual in English, Spanish, and French.

Experience

  • Represented a large multinational food service, facilities and uniform service provider in connection with Canadian trademark portfolio management, as well as conducting an opposition proceeding before the Trademarks Opposition Board.
  • Represented a large Canadian real estate developer in eight separate proceedings before the Federal Court, Federal Court of Appeal, Trademarks Opposition Board and Ontario Superior Court in connection with claims for passing off, infringement, oppositions, and the expungement of registrations adverse to a large-scale U.S.-based real estate and entertainment developer and operator.
  • Represented an international private equity firm in its cross-border acquisition of a majority stake in a global chain of upscale food marketplaces.
  • Represented a large dairy group in connection with trademark portfolio management, as well as a conducting and defending summary expungement, opposition, litigation and appeals at the Trademarks Opposition Board and Federal Court.
  • Represented one of Canada’s largest retailers acting in connection with the defense and enforcement of trademark and copyright, including conducting and defending summary expungement and opposition proceedings, and litigation before the Federal Court.
  • Represented a multinational automobile manufacturer, providing advice regarding trademark clearance, trademark prosecution and filing strategies, and portfolio management.
