BLG is committed to supporting you with your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) needs. We are pleased to offer ongoing virtual sessions through the year to help you fulfill your 12 hours of required CPD.

This session will encapsulate two unique and informative presentations. The first will focus on the Business Practices and Consumer Protections Act and the second on cybersecurity and how to respond in the case of an incident.

On March 31, 2025, the B.C. legislature enacted the Business Practices and Consumer Protections Act Amending Act, 2025. This Act introduced significant amendments to BC’s existing consumer protection legislation, the first since 2014. The amendments are wide-reaching and will have significant impact across industries. Join Class Actions Partner Shelby Liesch and Senior Associate Rachael Sider for an overview of the Act and its effect on business, with focussed discussion of potential class action risks that may arise.

When it comes to cybersecurity, one of the most complicated and crucially important projects for an organization is responding to a cybersecurity incident. Because many organizations do not have in-house experts trained in responding to cyberattacks, a breach coach – a lawyer specializing in cybersecurity and data privacy – is typically engaged to guide organizations through the process of responding to a data breach. In this interactive session with Claire Feltrin, Counsel in our Privacy, Cybersecurity and Data Protection Group, we will help you understand the role of counsel in the context of a data breach as well as how your organization can best minimize its legal risks even before an incident occurs.

We hope you can join us!
