Larry Elliot takes on new role as Katherine Cooligan focuses on her family law practice after 6 years as RMP.
Ottawa (November 19, 2020) — Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) is pleased to announce the appointment of Larry Elliot as Regional Managing Partner of the Ottawa office, effective November 1, 2020.
Larry Elliot previously acted as National Leader of BLG’s Insurance and Tort Law Group, as well as Regional Coordinator of BLG’s Product Liability Professional Group and Securities Litigation Focus Group. Over the course of his tenure and career at BLG, Larry has been involved in many areas of civil litigation with an emphasis on insurance law, product recalls and regulatory matters, stockbroker negligence, access to information, commercial litigation, administrative law and product liability.
In his new position, Larry will be charged with continuing to drive the Ottawa office’s achievement of its strategic objectives. While assuming the role of Regional Managing Partner, Larry will maintain his practice and continue his many professional and community engagements.
Larry is a member of the Advocates’ Society and a volunteer for Law Help Ontario. Larry succeeds Katherine Cooligan, who held the position for 6 years. During her mandate as Regional Managing Partner, Katherine strengthened the Ottawa office and BLG nationally by emphasizing inclusion, professionalism, service excellence, teamwork and community involvement. Katherine will continue to act as a trusted advisor to some of the firm’s top clients and will provide strategic advice in connection with a wide variety of family law matters.
