National (June 23, 2025) — Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) is pleased to announce that Melinda Park has been appointed as Calgary Regional Managing Partner, effective July 1, 2025.
As Regional Managing Partner, Melinda oversees the achievement of the Calgary office's strategic goals and objectives. Her priorities include growing client relationships, investing in local talent and reinforcing the firm’s commitment to service, integrity and community connection. While assuming the role of Regional Managing Partner, Melinda will maintain her practice and continue her many professional and community engagements.
Melinda has been with BLG for over 20 years, in the firm’s Corporate & Capital Markets Group, and is one of Alberta’s most experienced and respected corporate and securities lawyers. A trailblazer in her field, she regularly advises public and private companies on a wide range of matters, including mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions and corporate governance. Her ability to deliver thoughtful, business-focused legal advice makes her a trusted advisor to companies across Alberta and beyond, particularly in governance and mergers and acquisitions.
Over the years, Melinda has taken on multiple leadership roles within the firm. She served as chair of the firm’s Partnership Board, becoming the first woman at BLG to hold that position. She sat on the Board for six years and has contributed to both the regional and national management committees, shaping firmwide strategy, talent development and operations. In 2024, she received the King’s Counsel designation in Alberta.
Melinda is highly involved with the Calgary business and local community. In 2021, Melinda received the Calgary Influential Women in Business Award for Professional Services. She serves on the board of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, supporting initiatives that promote innovation, investment and inclusive economic growth and she has served on the board of governance of Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), acting as both Vice Chair and Chair for parts of her tenure. In 2024, SAIT recognized her considerable contributions by launching the Melinda Park Leadership Award. She also worked with Luna Child and Youth Advocacy Centre for many years, helping to strengthen trauma-informed care and build more responsive systems for children, youth and families.
“Melinda brings a strong combination of legal acumen, leadership experience and important community engagement that makes her the ideal choice to lead our Calgary office,” said David Di Paolo, BLG’s incoming National Managing Partner and CEO. “Her strong relationships with clients and colleagues, along with her commitment to the city’s growth and well-being, will continue to strengthen BLG’s presence in Calgary and across Canada.”
Melinda is succeeding Alan Ross who held the role for 9 years.
