An experienced energy, climate and regulatory lawyer, DT advises clients on energy regulation, climate policy, environmental law, emissions trading, Indigenous rights and ESG governance. He acts for utilities, financial institutions, governments, First Nations, Indigenous organizations, project developers and corporate clients.
His regulatory practice includes representing clients before the Ontario Energy Board in proceedings involving electricity, natural gas, distributed energy resources, renewable natural gas, hydrogen, energy storage, carbon markets and clean fuel regulations.
Before joining BLG, DT advised clients on regulatory, policy and compliance matters across the energy and climate sectors at a leading Toronto-based climate, energy, and Indigenous rights boutique law firm.
DT was also an independent legal expert and legal intern with the International Bar Association’s Human Rights Institute, conducting research on LGBTQ+ rights and human rights violations by extractive industries across Africa, Europe, and the Americas.
In his final year of law school, he worked at the Stellenbosch University Law Clinic, providing legal aid to individuals and communities in South Africa’s Cape Winelands.
