Laura Levine is BLG’s Partner, Innovation and Artificial Intelligence, leading the firm’s strategic approach to innovation, artificial intelligence and technology-enabled legal services. She works closely with firm leadership, lawyers and business professionals to integrate AI, knowledge and process innovation into BLG’s legal practice and organization in ways that enhance client value and operational excellence.
In this role, Laura assists lawyers across practice groups in developing responsible AI-driven solutions in partnership with clients, embedding innovation directly into strategic client engagements and enhancing competitive advantage. Collaborating with the firm's knowledge management and information services teams, she integrates emerging technologies into BLG's knowledge systems to enhance the capture and leverage of intellectual capital. She also contributes to the firm's AI governance framework, ensuring that the adoption of related technologies remains ethical, secure, and aligned with both regulatory compliance and client expectations.
In parallel with her innovation leadership role, Laura remains an active member of BLG’s Corporate and Capital Markets group, where she advises issuers, boards and market participants on securities regulation, disclosure obligations, corporate governance, and capital markets transactions. Her continued practice in securities law informs her innovation leadership, ensuring new technologies and processes are grounded in the realities of complex, high-stakes legal work.
Laura regularly contributes to discussions on legal innovation and the responsible use of AI in the legal profession, as well as complex securities and capital markets matters. She is the co-author of Canadian Securities Regulation, 6th Edition (2025), described by the Supreme Court of Canada in Lundin Mining Corp. v. Markowich as a “leading securities law textbook.”
