As digital workplaces expand and employee activity increasingly blurs the line between professional and personal spheres, organizations face a growing array of cyber and online harms and new employment issues stemming from the use of AI.
We are pleased to have Claire Feltrin, Counsel in our Privacy, Cybersecurity and AI Practice provide a practical, legal-focused roadmap for identifying, assessing, and responding to both established and emerging online threats affecting the workplace from a privacy and AI compliance perspective. Topics covered will include:
- Overview of the growing array of risks arising from AI faced by organizations today: from data breaches to doxxing, AI governance, cyber-enabled harassment, and other AI-driven misconduct (e.g., shadow AI).
- Where is Canada now when it comes to AI regulation? Where are we heading? How are organizations to determine their obligations in the absence of a federal AI law?
- How a “back to basics” approach can provide organizations operating in Canada with a practical framework for addressing these novel issues.
Following Claire’s presentation, Jennifer Fantini, Partner and Lisa Carlson, Senior Associate in our Labour and Employment Group will address a number of issues centering around the use of AI in employment issues. During their session they will cover:
- Updates on hiring and recruitment discrimination risk arising from the use of AI tools
- Employee monitoring and workplace surveillance (including an update on recent cases regarding the use of AI enabled dashcams) and performance management
- Updates on legislative provisions under the Ontario Employment Standards Act, 2000 and Human Rights Commission guidelines addressing the use of AI in the workplace
