Toronto (February 23, 2018) - Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) has been recognized at the 2018 Benchmark Canada Awards as Firm of the Year – Alberta and Medical Defense/Health Firm of the year. These awards highlight the exceptional work these groups achieved for their clients throughout 2017.
Four BLG partners are honoured with Benchmark awards as the leading lawyers in their individual practice areas:Nadir André in Aboriginal Law, Jeffrey Vallis, QC, FCIArb in Construction, Larry A. Elliot for Insurance and David T. Madsen QC in Intellectual Property. Guy J. Pratte earned the distinction of Hall of Fame at this year’s awards.
BLG also received awards for two of Benchmark’s Impact Cases of the Year:
- Packers Plus Energy Services Inc. v. Essential Energy Services Ltd et al, representing Weatherford and Harvest, led by David T. Madsen and Evan Nuttall.
- Julie Snyder v. John Doe et al, representing Julie Snyder, led by Mathieu Piché-Messier
The Benchmark Canada Awards recognize the top litigation lawyers and firms across the country for the significance of their cases during 2017, including potential precedents set and particularly notable results. The awards are based on extensive interviews with litigators and their clients. The sixth annual awards ceremony was held on February 22, 2018 in Toronto.
