Joseph has more than 13 years experience in dedicated arbitration counsel work.

He has experience representing multinational and state-owned companies in high-value and complex international and domestic arbitrations in various sectors, including construction, energy, government and transportation infrastructure.

Prior to joining BLG, Joseph worked for an international law firm in their Paris, Singapore and Abu Dhabi offices.

Experience

  • Represented a public energy utility in a $200 million arbitration with a contractor over the design, supply, and installation of seven turbine & generator units in a remote hydro electric project.
  • Represented a hospital in a dispute with an architectural consultant in a dispute regarding delays and deficiencies in the supplied drawings and design documents.
  • Represented a U.S. based respondent in an ICDR arbitration against a Canadian supplier of packaging solutions.
  • Advising a subcontractor in a dispute over delayed transit works.
  • Represented an international consortium of contractors, Claimants in ICC arbitration against a Middle Eastern State. The dispute arose out of the design and construction of an airport. The law of the Middle Eastern State applied. Close to $1 billion was at stake.
  • Represented the claimant in an ICSID arbitration against the Republic of Armenia under the U.S.-Armenia bilateral investment treaty over a rail network and a high-speed road in Southern Armenia. Over $260 million was at stake.
  • Represented a European consortium in an ICC arbitration arising out of the construction of a nuclear power plant in Finland. Stockholm seat, Finnish law. Over €6.1 billion was at stake.
  • Represented two international construction contractors in an ICC arbitration brought by a Middle Eastern State entity over the development of a world-class medical facility in the Middle East. $3.7 billion is at stake.
  • Represented a prominent French global fashion label in an ad hoc arbitration in Singapore against an Asian textile company.
