Yi maintains a general litigation practice with experience in construction and lien claims, energy and oil & gas disputes, shareholder disputes, environmental matters, product liability claims, and general contractual and tort disputes. Yi also represents oil and gas, and electrical generation, transmission and distribution clients before various tribunals in relation to project and rate approvals.
Yi has appeared before the Alberta Court of Justice, Alberta Court of King's Bench and various administrative tribunals including the Alberta Utilities Commission, the Alberta Energy Regulator, the Land and Property Rights Tribunal, and the Northwest Territories Public Utilities Board.
Yi also provides regulatory advice in the context of commercial transactions and project development, particularly with respect to regulated businesses and assets.
Yi summered and articled with BLG prior to joining the firm as an associate. Before attending law school, Yi worked as a Process Engineer-in-Training in Alberta's oil and gas industry.
Born and raised in China, Yi is fluent in Mandarin and is able to provide legal services in Mandarin.
