Nicholas helps Canadian founders build with confidence. As National Leader of BLG Beyond CoFound, he embeds directly into early-stage companies – joining leadership meetings, navigating fundraising and providing ongoing strategic legal guidance from pre-seed through Series B.
Nicholas knows the founder journey firsthand. While completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Calgary, he founded a software firm that modernized campus engagement, successfully exiting in 2020. He's built two other ventures and understands the impossible choices founders face: hire a lawyer and burn runway or use templates without guidance and accumulate legal debt.
Before joining BLG, Nicholas developed and led fractional general counsel services at DMZ, a world-leading startup incubator, where he built the infrastructure to deliver accessible, ongoing legal support to high-growth companies. He co-created the Startup Legal Support Centre, connecting hundreds of founders with the legal resources they need to scale.
Nicholas advises on the full spectrum of startup legal needs – incorporation, contracts, intellectual property, employment, governance and corporate finance. Through CoFound, he delivers Big Law expertise with the accessibility and responsiveness founders need to build without legal becoming a bottleneck.
