Sara maintains a broad disputes practice with a focus on complex commercial and civil litigation matters involving private and public companies, and individuals. /p>

Her areas of focus include:

  • Contractual and enforcement matters;
  • Injunctions and extraordinary remedies;
  • Commercial arbitrations;
  • Anti-fraud litigation;
  • Franchise disputes;
  • Administrative proceedings and judicial reviews; and
  • Procurement matters.

Sara has assisted with matters and acted as counsel before the Alberta Provincial Court, Alberta Court of Queen's Bench, Ontario Court of Justice and Ontario Superior Court of Justice. She also regularly appears on Toronto’s Commercial List and before various tribunals.


Sara was seconded to one of Canada’s largest financial institutions from 2021-2022, where she provided legal and regulatory compliance oversight and guidance on a range of capital markets issues, transactions and initiatives.

Sara summered and articled with in BLG’s Calgary before becoming senior associate in the firm’s Toronto office.

Experience

  • Acts for Canada’s largest province-wide, fully-integrated health system in a highly contentious, multi-party litigation matter involving an urgent injunction, multiple appeals and applications, an arbitration under the New West Partnership Trade Agreement, and media coverage.
  • Advises a Canadian automobile manufacturer with respect to risk management and arbitral proceedings brought under the National Automobile Dealer Arbitration Program (NADAP).
  • Successfully obtained an order of contempt in one of the Commercial List’s first virtual hearings at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Obtained an ex parte Mareva injunction freezing bank accounts in a fraud recovery proceeding.
  • Obtained a Norwich Order compelling third-party financial institutions to preserve and provide evidence regarding bank accounts and funds in a fraud recovery proceeding.
