As a Summer Law Student, Emily is assisting lawyers on a wide variety of tasks within our Business and Disputes groups.
As a first-year law student, Emily was Vice President of the University of Calgary’s Business Law Association and will serve as the Co-President in the upcoming year. In both positions, she organizes networking events and provides resources for law students with an interest in Business Law. Emily volunteered with the Calgary Women’s Vietnamese Association through Pro-Bono Students Canada where she conducted research on housing and tenancy law and helped translate the information into Vietnamese.
Prior to law school, Emily obtained a Bachelor of Commerce with a concentration in Risk Management & Insurance from the University of Calgary. Throughout her undergraduate studies, Emily served as President of a business student club and interned at a global insurance brokerage and a large insurance underwriting company.
Emily was drawn to BLG’s excellent reputation, commitment to professional development and its welcoming and supportive environment demonstrated throughout the recruitment process. As BLG’s formal rotation program ensures ample opportunity to gain exposure to various practice areas and form meaningful connections with the individuals within each team, the position strongly aligns with Emily’s skill set and career goals.
In her spare time, Emily enjoys backpacking, snowboarding, traveling and trying different restaurants around Calgary with her friends.
