Session 1: Handling Personal Information in Connection with Business Transactions, took place on November 4

Most business transactions involve the sharing of personal information, as is permitted by special provisions in Canadian most privacy statutes. This session addressed the role of information sharing in business transactions as well as the sharing provisions, their limitations and their requirements.

Session 3: Connected and Smart Devices – November 25
Presented by Ira Parghi and George Wray
People and objects are connected in ever increasing ways. More and more, our devices collect, store, process, and disseminate data. While this undoubtedly makes our lives easier and more efficient, it also creates information privacy and security risks. Learn about some of these challenges, and about efforts by government regulators and industry to manage them. Examples will be considered from the automotive and medical device industries in Canada and beyond.
