Alex represents institutional clients in high-stakes disputes that call for rigorous analysis and thoughtful advocacy. Known for diving into legal and factual complexities, and identifying case-changing details and creative angles, Alex's analytical and collaborative approach has proven decisive in shaping litigation strategy.
Alex’s practice spans commercial litigation, public and administrative law, and class actions, across a variety of industries including technology, healthcare, transportation, education, and financial services. Several of her cases involve privacy-related issues, such as challenges under s. 8 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, or intrusion upon seclusion claims.
Alex has appeared before courts including the Court of Appeal for Ontario and the Ontario Superior Court of Justice – Commercial List.
Owing to her secondment to the Legal, Risk, and Privacy department at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), Alex has practical, firsthand insight into what clients look for in external litigation counsel. This in-house experience continues to inform her approach – anticipating concerns and providing her clients with clear guidance breaking down multifaceted issues.
Alex earned Dean's List standing at McGill Law, where she won the James A. Woods Scholarship in Civil Litigation on the basis of her academic record and demonstrated advocacy skills; competed in the Gale Cup moot; and was managing editor of McGill's Journal of International Law. She summered and articled with BLG, building on her advocacy experience from her previous work in criminal defence during her first law school summer.
