Keegan defends hospitals, healthcare organizations, and professionals against allegations of professional misconduct and negligence in both civil and regulatory contexts. He represents health industry clients on a broad range of matters, including product liability claims, class actions, and other commercial disputes.
Keegan routinely appears before all levels of court in Ontario and represents clients before other courts, administrative bodies, and tribunals, including the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board, and the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.
For several years, Keegan taught the Trial Advocacy course at Queen’s University as an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Law.


  • Counsel to a hospital in the defence of a class action relating to data breaches by former employees.
  • Counsel to a nurse practitioner in the defence of a claim alleging a delay in diagnosing meningitis.
  • Counsel to an interventional radiologist in the defence of an eight-week jury trial regarding allegations of professional negligence.
  • Counsel to a clinic in relation to an out-of-hospital premises inspection by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
  • Counsel to a pharmaceutical company in the defence of a product liability class action relating to a drug used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease.
  • Counsel to a distributor in the defence of a $60 million product liability claim against various local and international defendants in relation to the supply of allegedly defective pipe to a major oil sands project.
  • Counsel to one of the world's largest charitable organizations in a contractual dispute relating to a $29 million grant.
  • Counsel to investment dealers and financial advisors in various proceedings involving allegations of unauthorized trading and unsuitable investment recommendations.
  • Counsel to shareholders in oppression and breach of contract claims, as well as in disputes concerning the relationship between shareholders and the dissolution and winding up of corporations.
  • Counsel to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers in the defence of various proceedings involving allegations of medical negligence and professional misconduct, including jury and non-jury trials, appeals, complaints, investigations, motions, and inquests.
